THE AKUA KUENYEHIA FOUNDATION (AKF) SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM FOR THE GIRL CHILD AND WOMEN EMPOWERMENT IN GHANA
It is a private foundation committed to the development and empowerment, of young ladies and women in Ghana through formal education. The purpose of this charitable organisation is to nurture and develop a passion for knowledge in Ghanaian ladies, especially those from underprivileged backgrounds, and also cultivate in them the zeal for service to society by enriching the lives of these young women and girls through educational scholarships and mentorship programmes.
Strategic Objectives
Education
- Offer merit-based scholarships to academically gifted but underprivileged Ghanaian girls, supporting them from senior high school through to the university.
- Develop leadership training and community service initiatives to encourage beneficiaries to give back to their communities.
Training & Leadership Empowerment
- Equip beneficiaries with essential life skills, fostering assertiveness, confidence, and personal empowerment.
- Establish a lifelong mentorship program that connects scholarship recipients with accomplished Ghanaian women, providing guidance, role models, and a strong support network.
- Expose beneficiaries to diverse career opportunities and facilitate networking to help them build professional connections.
Eligibility Criteria
To qualify for the scholarship, applicants must:
- Be a female and a Ghanaian citizen.
- Have completed either junior high school (JHS) or senior high school (SHS) in Ghana.
- Demonstrate outstanding academic performance and active participation in extracurricular activities.
- Provide proof of financial need, showing that their guardian(s) are unable to fund their education.

Application Requirements for the AKF Scholarship
Applicants must submit the following:
- A letter of application introducing themselves, including their full name, educational background, family circumstances, and reasons for seeking financial support.
- Copies of BECE results and school transcripts.
- Copies of WASSCE results and school transcripts (if applicable).
- Applicant’s contact number.
- An alternative contact number (parent or guardian).
